Glenfiddich has released three new luxury single malts. The limited-edition whisky collection is inspired by time. The collection consists of 30-, 40- and 50-year-old whisky. 50 years is an incredibly long time for a whisky production process. Climate changes have an impact on the taste of whisky. The 50-year-old whisky consists of a blend of whiskies from three different American oak barrels aged in the same warehouse, blended, and then aged in American oak for another two years. The resulting flavor can be described as complex. The taste of the whisky is also unexpectedly sweet. A profound taste, long-lasting sweet aftertaste, and an antique gold color make this whisky a one-of-a-kind product. The whisky is even more special because only 220 bottles got produced.
A piece of design work
All three bottles have a unique design. Let’s dive deeper into the 50-year whisky bottle design. The bottle design is inspired by the factors that influenced the aging of a whisky barrel, including air pressure, temperature, and humidity. The thing that makes the plan so special is that it was created using an algorithm. This algorithm is based on metrological data collected over 50 years. The designer behind this bottle is Manuel Jiménez García, a leading computational designer. He managed to bring a physical design to life using metrological data called Simultaneous Time.
It is safe to say that this limited-edition whisky is a unique variety, within the whisky business. To get your hands on one of these bottles would be a dream come true for die-hard whisky lovers, but you will have to dig deep into your pockets for that with the price tag of €50,000. If that is not within your price range, you can always go for the 30-year-old whiskey called Suspended Time. This bottle sells for about 1,100 euros. The 40-year-old whisky can also be an option if you have 4000 euros to spare!
